The Longines Global Champions Tour 6th Edition of the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show

Previous Next

For the sixth year in a row, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show, LAOHS, a leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, the prestigious international show jumping circuit, is returning to Ramatuelle’s renowned Pampelonne Beach, from 12 to 14 September 2019, where glamour and very high-level sport will go hand in hand.

The Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show is a competition that is unique in its kind, a leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, the international show jumping circuit, which since 2005, has been bringing together the top thirty riders in the world from all four corners of the globe, for nineteen legs, each one more prestigious than the last. The Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show, organised on Ramatuelle’s mythical Pampelonne Beach, is one of the most glamorous of these nineteen legs.

An idyllic setting, the world stars of the discipline

Orchestrated by the international rider Athina Onassis, with the support of Longines, the Swiss watchmaker, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show takes advantage of an exceptional setting, the Saint-Tropez peninsula and the famous Pampelonne beach. A stone’s throw from the sea, in the shade of the French Riviera’s pine trees, top quality facilities, worthy of the huge athletes hosted for the occasion, are built respecting the beauty of this natural, preserved site. The public admire the riders and stroll around in the village, which boasts restaurants, bars and boutiques. Last year, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show joined the ranks of the Longines Global Champions Tour destinations, synonymous for the Saint Tropez show, of the presence of the greatest riders on the planet. The Longines Global Champions Tour is an original, yearly show jumping championship, which spans three continents and takes in some of the world’s most beautiful cities including Paris, London, Madrid, Shanghai and Rome, with, in the past, a final organised in Doha and in Prague.

An all-star sports schedule

The Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show comprises two different levels of competition, for professional and amateur riders, with prize money totalling €617,000 distributed among the best riders of each class. A CSI 5* corresponds to the highest level in the horse show ranking established by the Fédération Equestre Internationale. The CSI 5* Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show includes six classes which all allow riders to win points for the Longines World Rankings. There will be two highlights among these six classes: the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix, which will boast €300,000 of prize money; and the Global Champions League team competition, during which the world’s best riders will come face to face as teams. The Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show also features a CSI 2* specifically for amateur riders, who will enjoy competing alongside the biggest names in world show jumping. In total, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show will host 120 riders and 230 horses, representing more than 20 different nations.
